Introduction to employment standards at work

As an employee, you have employment standards rights. These are minimum terms of employment.

The Employment Standards Act, 2000 (ESA) provides the minimum standards for most employees working in Ontario. It sets out rights and responsibilities of employees and employers for most Ontario workplaces.

You can find answers to your questions under the menu to the left. You can also go directly to our ministry website and find more information in our Fact Sheets listed under Publications.
